After our original showcase of Tommy boys, we wanted to review some of the other local eateries here in Downtown Toms River. And Bubby’s Beanery felt like the perfect next step. A staple of our community, and a known fan favorite for students going out to eat at lunch. Even with the coffee shop competition downtown, Bubby’s is still able to separate itself from the rest with its refreshing atmosphere and phenomenal staff. Here are our reviews below:

As we strolled over to Bubby’s Beanery, I made sure to mentally note how welcoming and chill the outside environment was. Its simplistic table and chair set up reminded me of one of those ancient coffee shops you would see in New York or Paris. The music playing and lively decorations also really drew us in. When we actually entered the place, I immediately noticed the vast amounts of records and CDs for sale. From the walls, hung a multitude of posters ranging from musical icons to cult artists. It was like a library of the past seventy-five years of musical history. There was also a little section to purchase clothes, figurines, art, and even jewelry. The only real issue I had was with the seating arrangement. It's incredibly small, only having a single couch and a table. However, I did hear that they are planning to expand in the near future.
When we went to order food, the first thing I noticed was how nice the staff was. Just looking at the menu, I was shocked by the vast amount of culinary and caffeinated options available. And all at a relatively low price. It easily has the most variations and flavors of coffee downtown. So, I decided to order a bagel with cream cheese and a caramel latte. The caramel latte was easily one of the most spectacular lattes I’ve ever had in my life. It was the perfect ratio of caramel and avoided the dull coffee taste that some lattes are prone to. When biting into the bagel, you could just taste the quality. I feel like some of the other restaurants downtown tend to lower the quality of their food during the weekdays because they know that a mass amount of students will flock down to their places. But not Bubby’s. I could instantly tell that they provide quality food 24/7.
Obviously, Bubbys Beanery is not the typical downtown restaurant, but I believe the quality is unmatched. The sheer amount of choices is just unbelievable and the atmosphere is amazing. Again, the only problem I really had was with the seating. It is getting an expansion, but for right now there is virtually only a couch. On a warmer day, I would even say to just grab your food and eat at one of the picnic tables. In my opinion, Bubby’s is the pinnacle of downtown eateries. Next time your downtown, hop on by Bubby’s Beanery. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

The Bubby’s Beanery setting is a great place to chill out and enjoy a scrumptious cup of coffee. The music is played by the owner and is usually in the genre of classic rock, the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, or alternative. What I like most about this cool, music-filled atmosphere is how they sell records that are new and used at an assortment of different prices. In the shop, there is a record player that customers can use while they enjoy their cup of coffee.
The coffee in itself is an entire experience, I ordered the iced Caramel Latte and was instantly impressed by the vibrant flavors. I would also recommend the People = S*** Latte (iced or hot) to anyone going to Bubby’s from prior experience. Sitting on the red velvet couch, listening to good music, and enjoying a tasteful cup of coffee was a great way to spend my afternoon. I would rate my experience at Bubby’s Beanery a 9/10!

Bubby’s Beanery is easily a contender for the most interesting place in Downtown Toms River. The atmosphere of the beanery is truly unlike any other restaurant I’ve visited. The praise of musical culture sets the mood for the customer when dropping by for a quick cup of coffee or a muffin. However, breakfast delicacies aren’t the only thing on the menu. Customers can also purchase (very) affordable vinyl, CDs, and even artwork from off the walls. The staff is welcoming, which matches the fitting environment. Even though there are tables for outdoor seating, the beanery provides a couch that customers can just sink right into. The coffee is, as expected, delicious, as well as the many quick breakfast bites they offer. I’m thinking a strong 8 to a light 9 on this place, and I can definitely see myself returning here time and time again.
