¡Hola! Like everything else in the world, Spanish club took a big hit from the effects of COVID-19. For a whole year there was no place to go for the students who wanted to further their education in the language. It was a sad time, but gladly that time is over, because Spanish club at High School South is back and better than ever!
Run by Señora Ackerman-Ruch and Señora McKinnon as advisors, and Abbie Gresek and Bryan Ruch as presidents and Robert Kukfa as CEO, the club is ready to teach students Spanish in different and fun ways.
In their first meeting back, the desks were filled with students eager to start their activity. We would be learning about and doing our very own Mexican bark painting. We were taught and shown what this was from a slide show presented by Abbie. The presentation gave an in-depth lesson on the background and process of this form of painting.
After all this we were then set to create our own painting. From what I could tell, everyone in the room had fun with this. It was a great little activity that gave everyone the chance to express their creativity. Some of the different things being painted were a purple giraffe, a sunset, a beach, and birds. Everyone’s turned out great!
If any of this sounds like something you would enjoy, consider joining the club. They are always looking for new members no matter what your past Spanish experience may be. ¡Adios!
